Every year, a group of dedicated teachers in our town, puts together a conference for our elementary writers. The students publish a piece of writing and bring it to the conference with a parent. Students are put into small groups and read their writing to each other. While students share, their parents choose a presentation to attend. Presentations are given in lots of areas. There may be some on parenting, technology in schools or how various subjects are being taught in the schools. My presentation shared some of the foods that directly affect a student’s behavior and ability to learn. The students and their parents also see a real children’s author who shares his or her books and their writing process and inspiration. It is always such a fun night!
I love to present at the Young Writers Conference. It is great to connect with parents and see my student friends. I am posting my powerpoint presentation today so the parents who attend my presentation can refer back to it.
